COACHING & Training

At Rosewood Hunters & Jumpers, we offer lesson programs for all levels, from first-time-in-the-saddle riders to seasoned show competitors. Tanya and her team of skilled and knowledgeable instructors create a customized lesson and training program suited to each rider's age, experience and goals.

OUR RIDING SCHOOL PROGRAM

Located in the beautiful Southlands  - just minutes from downtown Vancouver, British Columbia - we are nestled among sprawling estates and stables. Easily accessible by car, bus or bike, our Riding School program is popular for busy Vancouver families and professionals who wish to participate in equestrian sport without driving outside of the city.

Our school facility includes two well-lit outdoor sand riding arenas, perfectly sized for beginner through intermediate riders. Our stable houses more than a dozen lesson horses and ponies and includes a spacious lounge area, comfortable washroom facilities, and barn laundry.

Most lessons take place in the riding arenas, but If the sand footing in the arena is too wet or is frozen, we offer a road or trail ride or a session in the stables focusing on horse care and stable management.

INVESTMENT

We operate on a tuition-based system with quarterly scheduling and payments; this ensures clients have consistent lesson dates and times throughout the term. This system also allows us to better match clients with our available lesson horses and ponies, as well as our team of talented instructors.

Once Weekly Private Lesson: $1,170 per term (3 months)

30-minute lesson with one (1) rider and one coach.

* 3% discount for those booking two (2) private lessons per week each term.

* 5% discount for those booking three (3) or more private lessons per week each term.

Once Weekly Semi-Private Lessons: $975 per term

45-minute lessons with two (2) riders and one coach. Riders are matched based on age and skill level.

* 3% discount for those booking two (2) private lessons per week each term.

* 5% discount for those booking three (3) or more private lessons per week each term.

Introductory Package: Four (4) private lessons for $300

For first-time Rosewood clients, we offer a four (4) lesson package - one lesson per week. This is a great way for adult riders to determine if our School Program is a good 'fit' and for parents to gauge their child's interest in the sport. Each lesson is 30-minutes in duration. This is a $390 value and offered only once per rider.

Single Group Lesson: $80 per 45-minute session

For those who wish to ride fewer than once a week or wish to book a one-time ride, this group lesson fee is applied.

Single Private Lesson: $95 per 30-minute session

For those who wish to ride fewer than once a week or wish to book a one-time ride, this private lesson fee is applied.

Our Policies

Late Arrivals

Clients must ensure they arrive at Rosewood at least 15 minutes prior to their lesson and are prepared to start their lesson at the assigned start time.

  • Clients who arrive late will automatically forfeit the portion of the lesson missed regardless of the reason for their lateness; lessons will end at the scheduled time regardless of what time the client arrived or started. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • If participating in a group or semi-private lesson, clients who arrive 15 minutes or more late will not be permitted to join the lesson; doing so is disruptive to the other rider(s); the lesson will not be rescheduled, and the client is responsible for the lesson fee in full. NO EXCEPTIONS

If for some reason the instructor will/does arrive late for your lesson, she will:

  • Provide you with as much notice as possible.
  • Offer you an alternative lesson time if necessary/possible.
  • Prorate your lesson fee based upon the total lesson time you receive.
  • NOT allow your lesson to run over into the next lesson slot as this is not fair to others and will cause inconvenience for all subsequent riders.

Cancellations

A minimum of 24-hour’s notice is required for cancellation of any lesson; the only exceptions are in the case of acute illness of the client. If canceling with less than 24-hour notice, the lesson will not be rescheduled, and the lesson is forfeited.   With a minimum of 24-hour’s notice of a cancellation (please email cancellations@rosewoodhj.com and text your instructor), clients will have the opportunity to book a make-up lesson.

  • Make-up lessons must be used within 30 days of the cancellation date.
  • Maximum of one (1) make-up per month for single-day-per-week rider or two (2) per month for   multi-day riders.

For those who are away for extended periods of time – such as vacations or illness – we will adjust your tuition accordingly in the next term.

Inclement Weather

Lessons are held rain or shine but will be cancelled in the event of severe weather such as thunder/lightning, extreme heat or cold. Rosewood will follow local school closings; if schools are closed due to severe weather, then the barn will be closed as well.

  • These classes will be re-scheduled; if lessons must be cancelled due to inclement weather, Rosewood staff will attempt to contact you before the lesson at the number you have provided.
  • It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that Rosewood has your current contact information.   Weather conditions in Southlands may be different from weather in the Client's area at any certain time. If you do not hear from our staff, please assume that lessons will take place as scheduled.
